Best Travel Credit Cards in 2020 with an Annual of $95 or Less

Although travel this year might be very different, it shouldn’t stop you from getting travel credit cards and banking up those points so that when travel starts to return to normal, you can book that vacation you’ve been dying to take.  The following credit cards all have an annual fee of $95 or lower and if you utilize the credits and rewards for each of these cards properly, you’ll get enough back to cover the annual fee and more.

Chase Sapphire Preferred Card

This is actually the credit card that I personally use.  I’ve used it now for three years and I’ve gotten about 6 round trip flights out of it so far.  When you sign up and spend $4,000 on purchases in the first three months, you get 60,000 bonus points – that’s about $750 in travel rewards.  You earn 2X points on all travel and dining purchases and your points are worth 25% more when you use them for travel.  The annual fee for this credit card is $95, but if you utilize this card properly, your rewards will pay for that annual fee.  Read more on this credit card here.

Venture Rewards from Capital One

This card actually gives you 2X points on EVERY purchase you make.  They also have a partnership with UberEats now through January 31, 2021 where you’ll get 5X the points on each UberEats purchase.  You’ll also get 50,000 bonus points if you spend $3,000 in the first three months.  You’ll also be given a $100 credit towards TSA pre-check.  The annual fee for this credit card is $95.  Learn more about this card here.

The Marriott Bonvoy Boundless Card

My husband and I also have this card and LOVE it!  They have a limited time offer right now where you’ll get 100,000 bonus points when you spend $3,000 on purchases in your first three months from opening.  The annual fee is $95, but you get 1 free night per year (worth 35,000 points) which is worth more than the $95 fee.  You’ll earn 6X the points on every $1 spent on over 7,000 participating Marriot Bonvoy hotels and 2X on all other purchases.  Learn more about this card here.

Alaska Airlines Visa Signature Card

Alaska Airlines has been quickly growing in popularity and adding many different routes all over the US.  They are currently offering a credit card where if you make $2,000 in purchases in the first 90 days, you’ll receive 40,000 bonus points as well as a $100 credit.  You’ll also receive a free checked bag for each flight you take with them and they have a low annual fee of $75.  You’ll earn 3X miles on every $1 you spend with Alaska Airlines, and 1 mile for every $1 on all other purchases.  Learn more about this credit card here.

American Airlines AAdvantage

With this card, if you spend $2,500 in the first three months after opening, you’ll get 50,000 American Airlines bonus points.  There is a annual fee of $95, but it’s waived in your first year.  You’ll also get one free checked bag on domestic American Airlines flights and preferred boarding.  You’ll get 2X points on each $1 spend on all dining and gas stations, 2X points on each $1 spent on American Airlines purchases, and 1 points for each $1 spent on all other purchases.  Find out more about this credit card here.
